Aierjigan Gr
Type Locality and Naming
NE Tarim Basin. The Aierjigan Gr was named by Gao Zhenjia et al. in 1963. The type locality is Aierjigan-Daban, east of Korla City, Xinjiang Weiwuerzhu Zizhiqu (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region). It is found that the original section is not complete; therefore, the section near Balagun-Bulak, eastern Kuruktag is taken later as the typical section for the group. This is cited in this lexicon.

Lithology and Thickness
The Aierjigan Gr is of Si-Mg-rich carbonate formation of neritic facies, It is mainly composed of dolomite, dolomitic marble sandwiched with minor purple-red thick-bedded quartzite. Both stromatolite and oncolite are developed in the group. It is stable laterally in lithological character, but changeable greatly in thickness. The Aierjigan Gr is 900-2600 m thick
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The base is in unconformable and disconformable contact onto the underlying Yangjibulak Gr or Bowamu Gr
Upper contact
Next higher regional unit is the Sainartag Fm of lower Pargantag Gr (early QIngbaikouan = early Tonian)
Regional extent
NE Tarim Basin. Aierjigan Gr is widely distributed from south of Aotulak of western Kuruktag to Xingertag, west of Aierjigan-Daban and Balagun-Bulak of eastern Kuruktag.

Fossils
The stromatolites in middle and upper parts of the group are: Tungussia f., Collenia f., Shanshanella regulatus, while the stromatolites in the base are: Kussiella kussiensis.
